Vietnam is proposing to exempt personal income gained from the transfer of carbon emissions credits from tax.
The transfer of “emission reduction certificates” is among several forms of income the finance ministry is proposing to exempt from personal income taxes, according to an article from Vietnam’s state newspaper Monday announcing a consultation.
These certificates are issued to taxpayers who reduce production of carbon dioxide through activities like reforestation and forest preservation. The certificates can be bought and sold on the carbon market.
