UPPER PENINSULA, Mich. (WLUC)—Next week is GivingTuesday, a global movement that aims to highlight the generosity of communities everywhere.

One U.P.-based organization is making it easier for you to celebrate. Grow & Lead: Community and Youth Development’s Give906 campaign allows people to give specifically to U.P. nonprofits. The Grow & Lead program offers a Giving Guide. This guide allows nonprofits to showcase their efforts and display their needs while also making it easier for people to donate.

Taylor Olson-Brutto, Grow & Lead: Community and Youth Development outreach coordinator, said this year, Grow & Lead —Next week is GivingTuesday, a global movement thatwill also host an information table on Northern Michigan University’s campus to raise awareness of the campaign.

“Giving your time, your talents, gifts in kind, monetary donations, you know, random acts of kindness, anyway that you can spread generosity – that’s what GivingTuesday is,” Olson-Brutto said.

Olson-Brutto says it’s important to give, even if you can’t give monetarily.

“Maybe you can’t give any monetary donations, but you could put someone’s cart away for them, hold the door open for someone, drop cookies off for a neighbor,” Olson-Brutto said. “There are so many small and tangible ways to make our world brighter and spread generosity.”

The information table will be up in the Jamrich Hall Lobby from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
