The free event has been organised by the character’s creator, author Alex Brown, from Musselburgh.
He came up with the idea of Snoozlewhoosh, who comes to life when children fall asleep, before transforming it into books for his grandchildren.
“What started as a project for my grandchildren has blossomed into a heartfelt mission, driven by my belief that all children deserve to feel safe and happy,” he said.
“The Snoozlewhoosh project now has nine books and is thriving, and I’m thrilled to announce our second free Christmas event for children from low-income families.
“We’ll be hosting a magical cinema showing of the Snoozlewhoosh YouTube videos, where the kids can meet Santa and receive a soft toy owl, children’s book and selection box.”
There will be three showings at The Fraser Centre, on Winton Place, on Monday, December 23, at 3pm, 4.30pm and 6pm. Each can accommodate 80 children.
Alex said that the showings were being organised “so that just two days before Christmas, children can experience the joy and happiness that the season brings”.
He added: “There are now five Snoozlewhoosh video books on YouTube. Even more exciting, in 2025, the Snoozlewhoosh project will be fully animated, and my hope is to reach as many children as possible.
“Who knows? If it grows, maybe one day we can even create a Snoozlewhoosh Foundation to help kids everywhere.”
He added: “An animation company will create Evie’s Excellent Adventure into full animation early next year.
“I’ve received wonderful feedback from industry folks who believe in the potential of the Snoozlewhoosh project to bring joy to children worldwide.”
Booking for the Tranent screenings must be done in advance.
This can be done via Roots and Fruits, the Volunteer Centre in Tranent, the Pennypit Trust, Women’s Aid, the Store Club in Tranent, and the Venchie in Niddrie.
“We would like to invite other local groups to message my daughter-in-law Denise through the Snoozlewhoosh Facebook page @Snoozlewhoosh. Anyone who knows of families who have children who would benefit from the free event should also contact Denise,” Alex said.
Each group or family will be given an allocation and time slot.
