Love Beyond despair this Christmas
SEATTLE – This holiday season the need is greater than ever as more and more people in our community fall into poverty. According to a 2023 study by the University of Washington, 28% of families in Washington can’t afford to cover their basic needs without government assistance.
The Salvation Army’s volunteer red kettle bell ringers play an essential role in the ability to help more families and individuals make ends meet and experience the joy of the season. Anyone can volunteer to ring The Salvation Army’s iconic bells in their community by signing up at RegistertoRing.com.
This year, The Salvation Army Northwest Division, spanning across Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana, aspires to raise $3.9 million to help fund vital, lifesaving services such as our Hope Market food pantries, emergency shelters and transitional housing, utility and rental assistance, addiction recovery, and senior and youth programs.
“Throughout November and December, our iconic red kettles and bell ringers will be seen and heard around town. When shoppers drop money into the kettle or donate online at Northwest.SalvationArmy.org, the holiday spirit multiplies to directly help those in need,” said The Salvation Army Northwest Divisional Commander Lt. Colonel Cindy Foley. “Without the support of enough volunteer red kettle bell ringers, there are many community members who will lose their shelter, heat, and food this Christmas. We thank all of our generous volunteers for helping to make a real difference in the hope and future of our neighbors in need.”
