HARTFORD, CT (WFSB/WGGB/WSHM) - The search continues for the person responsible for killing a Springfield mother and her four-month-old son in Hartford. The shooting happened Tuesday afternoon
Hartford Police will be holding a news conference Wednesday afternoon, but at this time, it’s unknown if investigators have found the suspect.
The victims been identified as 20-year-old Jessiah Mercado and her four-month-old son, Messiah Diaz, both of Springfield.
Hartford Police said the incident was a drive-by shooting in the area of Hillside Avenue and Zion Street. In broad daylight on Tuesday, a car pulled up next to the vehicle the mother and her baby were in and started firing. A third person, who was in that car, was also shot, but is expected to survive. The victims were taken to Hartford Hospital.
We don’t know what the suspect vehicle looks like or if a suspect or suspects have been identified.
