Several West Virginia schools close due to first winter storm

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — Old Man Winter is the toast of the town today among students in Barbour, Preston, Upshur and Randolph counties, as the rambunctious geezer gave the young'uns in those places the Friday off before hunting season.

The first big winter storm for West Virginia this school year has resulted in several closures.

Schools also closed in Braxton, Mercer, Nicholas, Pocahontas and Tucker counties, while at least some closures were reported in Marion.
