CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville Police Department is investigating a Tuesday afternoon shooting that occurred on Hardy Drive.
According to police, the incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. on the 800 block of Hardy Drive.
Officers were called for a shots fired report, and when they got to the scene, they learned from a witness that a man had fired two shots at an occupied vehicle.
There was an adult and a three-year-old child in the vehicle. Neither person was injured.
The victims were not there when police arrived, but investigators were able to make contact a while later at another location.
CPD reports security video from the area has been collected as well as a bullet fragment from the victim’s vehicle.
A man was seen on the video that police believe was involved in the incident.
The preliminary investigation has found the suspect and victim may be acquainted and this was not an act of random violence.
