Maryland man 'shoots and kills stepson after 15-year-old didn’t finish chores'

A Maryland man is behind bars after allegedly killing his teen stepson over chores.

Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Huntt Road in La Plata. When they arrived they found 48-year-old Darshan Eric Williams standing outside of the home where the shooting was reported, ABC News affiliate KLTV.com reported.

After Williams was taken into custody, officials found the 15-year-old Michael Edward Clemons unconscious and not breathing inside the home, police said in a news release. The teenage boy, who was Williams’ stepson, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Investigators say Williams shot his stepson after he became upset with the teenager for not completing the household chores. The 48-year-old was jailed at the Charles County Detention Center on second-degree murder and first-degree assault charges.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation is still ongoing.
