Towanda, Pa. — A man claims to have had an unknown helper when he carried out an alleged theft of two ATVs in Bradford County.
On Oct. 28, PSP Towanda officers Robert Borkowski and Kyle Pokrinchak responded to a report of a broken down John Deere Gator near Huddle Road in Windham Township.
A man, later identified as Tucker Ham, 26, from Warren Center, was attempting to fix the Gator. Police recognized the vehicle from a recent report of two Gators being stolen from a residence in Pike Township.
When photos of the stolen Gators were compared to the Gator alongside the road, they were found to be a “direct match,” police reported.
Ham was interviewed at the scene, and according to police, he claimed that a man had offered to sell him the stolen Gator in exchange for help towing the other Gator to a campground in Pike Township. Ham said that he did so, and told police that the unknown man had coordinated the theft, according to the affidavit.
Police then reportedly took Ham to the campground that he had claimed to have moved the second Gator, and located the other stolen vehicle along a road there.
Upon further interviewing, Ham admitted to entering the unlocked residence where the Gators were stolen from with the unknown man, according to police. He further claimed that the only items he had taken from the residence were “a chain to tow the Gator and an air pump.”
The unknown man has not been identified, but police say he may go by “Nick” or “Nate.”
Ham was arrested the same day that police questioned him. He faces felony charges of theft, receiving stolen property, also third-degree felonies, burglary, and trespassing. He is being held in Bradford County Prison in lieu of $65,000 monetary bail. His arraignment is scheduled to take place on Dec. 9.
