A Florida man has been arrested after he allegedly charged and "viciously attacked" a man on a golf course in Palm Beach Gardens and attacked him with his own golf clubs before ultimately drowning him in a pond.
According to NBC affiliate WPTV, police have charged Junior Boucher, 36, with first-degree murder charge in the death of Brian Hiltebeitel, 65, at the Sandhill Crane Golf Club, located in the 11000 block of Northlake Boulevard.
According to an arrest report, police have dubbed the attack as a "random act of violence" which occurred just before 1:30 pm Monday. It was stated in the report that officers rushed to the scene after getting reports that a man attacked another man with a golf club.
When police arrived, they discovered the body of Hiltebeitel lying on the fairway and Boucher — who was naked — fleeing the scene. Police reportedly asked Boucher to stop, but when he failed to do so, officers used an "electronic control weapon" on him and take him into custody.
In the report, witnesses reportedly told law enforcement that he just started his game when he saw Hiltebeitel and Boucher. According to the witness, Hiltebeitel was "retreating" from Boucher, who was "holding a golf club and was swinging it towards Hiltebeitel."
"Hiltebeitel was yelling 'he's trying to kill me' multiple times," the witness said. The person also added that the men then fell to the ground and "Boucher began striking Hiltebeitel numerous times with the golf club.
After the initial attack, it was stated that Boucher chased Hiltebeitel toward a pond on the course and bashed him repeatedly in the head with the golf club. The witness further stated once the duo reached the pond, Boucher jumped on top of Hiltebeitel in the water and "appeared to be choking him."
The witness then told police, "Boucher then got off of Hiltebeitel who was no longer moving and retrieved a golf club and struck him repeatedly in the head." It was then that Boucher allegedly took off his clothes and walked away.
When they discovered his body, Palm Beach Gardens police said Hiltebeitel had "deep lacerations to the back of his head" and was pronounced dead at the scene." At this time, it does not appear that Boucher had any legitimate purpose for being at the golf course," Palm Beach Gardens Police Chief Dominick Pape said at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon. "This appears to be a random act of violence where Boucher used the victim's golf clubs as weapons and viciously attacked the victim, ultimately killing him."
According to Papa, one hour before the attack, Boucher had been reported missing by the Palm Beach Garden Police Department. During a court appearance on Tuesday, Boucher was denied bond and the presiding judge ordered him to have no contact with any witnesses and no access to weapons. It was during this time Boucher reportedly told the judge that his real name was Manuel Acosta Rodriguez.
