JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Johnstown police are investigating the shooting death of a Greater Johnstown High School student in the Oakhurst section of the city, authorities said.
Police were called to the 100 block of Sheridan Street at 11:45 p.m. Sunday. Officers found the body of a 17-year-old female in the basement with a gunshot wound to the upper torso, Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday at ForensicDX in Windber.
The school district will have grief counselors available, Lees said.
No other injuries were reported.
Johnstown police detectives, the coroner and the District Attorney's office are investigating.
